During eighteen summers, from 1892-1917, Frank Duveneck visited Cape Ann, Massachusetts, often staying through October. He painted more than ninety works, most of which are in private hands. No major exhibition of these paintings was held during his lifetime. The bulk of these pictures was kept by him in his studio because the pictures were considered experimental. Most are studies of Gloucester Harbor and the rock coasts.
