Spiral bound softcover in paper wraps, 8 1/2" tall. Good. Cover is rubbed, chipped and has small stains. Cover has pulled away at the top from the spiral. Small rubbed are on title page. Overall inside pages clean and binding is tight.In 1776, two Franciscan Friars working in the Spanish mission system near Santa Fe made an historic trek northward through western c Colorado across northern Utah, down the State of Utah, across northern Arizona and then returned to the New Mexico country where they had started six months earlier. Their purpose was to discover a new route to connect the Spanish missions of Santa Fe with the newly established mission in Monterey California. They failed in their primary objective but in the process of going through this newly discovered land, they became the first Europeans to see, in its total context what is now known as the Four corners Region of the United States. In 1976 a monument was made to commemorate the expedition and to retrace the trail. This book documents all aspects of the following. Contents include: introduction, report and analysis, local observances, commemorative ramada concept, interpretive, dominguez y escalante story, the people, the land, points of interest, bibliography. Illustrated with drawings and photographs.
