Unread condition. First Edition. Dj is fine. Eugène Anatole Carrière (January 16, 1849 - March 27, 1906) was a French Symbolist artist of the Fin de siècle period. His work is best known for its brown monochrome palette. He was a close friend of the sculptor Rodin and his work influenced Picasso. Some see traces of Carrière's monochrome style in Picasso's Blue Period. This book is a collection of Carriere's works. It describes his life, influences, and artistic progeny; not un-eloquently, and offers excellent reproductions of his work. Since most of his paintings are monochromatic, it is absolutely essential to get the value relationships right in a reproduction. These reproductions are large, generous and on fine paper.
