Inscribed and signed by author Allen H. Eaton, 1949, stated first edition, 375 pages, 9 1/2" tall, Black cloth with gilt titles and decorated endpapers. Very Good. DJ is rubbed, chipped, and torn. Small stains on outside page edges. Inside pages clean and binding is tight. 4 color plates and 128 black and white photographs of craftspeople at work, and of their products. Allen H. Eaton was a famous advocate for American crafts in mid century. This classic illustrated compendium includes chapters on the history of crafts in New England and of the handicraft and arts and crafts movements in America, as well as a large illustrated survey of "New England Handicrafts Today," which gives details of individual craftspeople's lives and art.
